University Professors Program
The University Professors Program is an interdisciplinary program for gifted students. Taught by an award-winning faculty with cross-disciplinary ties in humanities, social sciences, and the natural sciences, all students begin with a core curriculum, establishing a common foundation for their independent study and research. Students then design individual courses of study in conjunction with their faculty advisors, preparing for the senior thesis, the culminating project in their degree pursuit, that links fields across the disciplines.
Features:
- The faculty of the University Professors Program are some of the most distinguished scholars at the University, including Nobel Prize winners Sheldon Glashow and Elie Wiesel.
- Each faculty member has joint appointments in one or more School or College in addition to their rank in the University Professors Program.
- Qualified students may pursue a combined BA/MA program.
- The Poetry Reading Series, co-sponsored with the Humanities Foundation at Boston University, presents the work of both renowned and emerging poets including Robert Pinsky and Jorie Graham.
- The Literary Translation Seminar Series features presentations by translators and commentators on translation from a variety of languages.
