Tutorials

The Office of Information Technology offers free tutorials in computing to the Boston University community. These short, noncredit tutorials range from introductions to Pine and the UNIX operating system to in-depth sessions on popular application software packages such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and FileMaker Pro. Most tutorials feature hands-on training.

You can view tutorial information by clicking a subject in the list on the right. Or you can view a calendar of upcoming tutorials. You also can check your schedule and drop a tutorial for which you have registered.

Seating and Registration

Seating is limited for all tutorials, and most tutorials require advance registration. For specific seating limitations and registration requirements, consult the online course listings.

Note: Because of staffing and space constraints at 100 Cummington Street, we must give priority to students, faculty, and academic staff. As space is available, we will make tutorials available to other University staff.

Self-Paced Tutorials

If the tutorial of your choice is full, or if you want to learn an application for which we don't offer an instructor-led tutorial, consider taking one of our popular self-paced tutorials as described at www.bu.edu/pcsc/tutorials/selfpaced/.

Avoid Disappointment: Arrive Early!

Because of enrollment limits and the inevitable disruption to the entire class caused by latecomers, we ask that you please arrive several minutes early for all sessions. In sessions that use advance registration, open seats will be reassigned five minutes after the scheduled starting time. Please be advised that if you are more than five minutes late, you risk losing your seat to a walk-in attendee.

Boston University's policies provide for equal opportunity and affirmative action in employment and admission to all programs of the University.
