Office Applications

The IT Help Center provides technical support for the Microsoft Office suite, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook. See our supported software list.

Tutorial Handouts

The IT Help Center staff design, write and teach tutorials on Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access. See current and previous handouts from our tutorial program; these can be helpful to beginning and intermediate/advanced users of Microsoft Office alike. Please contact the IT Help Center if you have any questions.

Outlook (e-mail) support

The IT Help Center can answer your questions about using Outlook to read e-mail. Please see our e-mail support pages at www.bu.edu/pcsc/email. There are many e-mail clients in use at BU, and depending on your needs, you may find that other programs are easier for you to use than Outlook. The page above discusses some of these options.

Office 2007

Office 2007 for Windows became available to businesses and universities on 30 November 2006, and to individuals on 30 January 2007.

The decision to move to Office 2007 should not be undertaken lightly, as Office 2007 introduces a radically different user interface and new file formats which can't be read by previous versions of Office without special conversion software. Learn about this new version and the factors you or your department should consider before deciding to upgrade.
