using a blackberry to ACcess your ACS MAIL

Forwarding to an existing account

If you already have a working e-mail account or app set up on your Blackberry, you could opt to forward BU e-mail to that account as described at www.bu.edu/tech/help/computing/email/forwarding. For example, if you use Gmail, you could forward your BU email to Gmail and then use the Gmail Blackberry app.

Configuring the Blackberry's E-mail Settings to use ACS

Different Blackberry users have noted varying instructions for setting up access to ACS mail. Please choose the option below that best coincides with your version of the Blackberry software.

OPTION A:

  1. From the Home screen select the Setup folder
  2. In the Setup folder click on the Email Settings icon
  3. Type in your Blackberry Internet Service username and password and click next. (If you haven’t created one yet, you will be asked to do so now.)
  4. Type in your BU e-mail address and Kerberos password and then click next. It will take a few minutes before you start receiving new mail.

Note: Only the ACS Inbox is available via the Blackberry. Mail stored in other folders will not be accessible.

OPTION B:

  1. From the Home screen select Applications
  2. Scroll to Setup
  3. Scroll to Email Setup
  4. Select the first option, I want to create or add an email address, then select next
  5. Select next again on the following screen, which tells you it will now redirect you to a webpage where you can complete email setup.
  6. Select add My existing email account.
  7. On the add account page, enter your BU e-mail address and Kerberos password and then click next. It will take a few minutes before you start receiving new mail.

Note: Only the ACS Inbox is available via the Blackberry. Mail stored in other folders will not be accessible.
