about quotas

I've exceeded a quota. Can you explain what that means?

Because the ACS cluster of servers is a shared resource, each person with an ACS account is subject to quotas that prevent the account from exceeding its allotted amount of space.

Determining Quota Usage

To see how your quota levels are doing, you can check your usage at any time by going to www.bu.edu/computing/myacs.

Deleting Unwanted Messages

One of the most common reasons people have quota issues is because they store too much old mail. You should always try to delete and purge messages as soon as it can be determined that you no longer need them. Folders like Trash, Sent Items (or comparable), and Spam/Junk (or comparable) are good places to start. You should delete and purge from these folders whenever you think of it.

What else can I do to manage my quota levels?

Quota management methods for accounts created on or after 19 February 2008 are slightly different from those for accounts created earlier.
